In you quest to better understand or perhaps rekindle your spirituality, join us to become more attuned to the earth, nature, early people, and the Creator. Art, music, movement, poetry, and mediation are explored as tools for enriching  life, prayer and praise.

Develop a closeness to nature and your source through drumming. Explore Native American design and symbolism while making your own drum which you decorate it in a way meaningful to you.No previous art or craft skills are necessary, only an open mind.
 

WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable clothes for sawing, sanding, painting, etc.

PROTECTIVE GEAR: Both work gloves and rubber-type gloves, Inexpensive plastic safety goggles Inexpensive (disposable) dust mask

ITEM FOR YOUR 
OWN USE...
1 full-size hammer
1" - 2" wood chisels (kind you hit with a hammer)
Pocket knife or Exacto knife
Sharp scissors (that can cut rawhide which is like heavy cardboard)
Small bottles of acrylic paints which you might have on hand
Artist brushes (small and medium sizes)
Inexpensive 1" to 2" all purpose brush
One small can of beef broth (does that have you curious)

Bring any special feathers, beads, leather, bones, or other items which you have that speak to you spiritually and you might want to use to decorate your drum or rattle.  We will be able to find things with special meaning to at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico as well.

TOOLS (IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THEM AND CAN TRANSPORT THEM):

Wood carving tools  Dremel tool and blades. 
Small finish sander w/sandpaper
Small electric drill with bits Small needle-nose pliers
Electric hobby-type glue gun Wood burner
Electric detail carver (a great tool to have if you like carving)

We will have some of the heavy tools for your use at both our Ranch in Kansas and at Ghost Ranch, but it will expedite our work if everyone bring what they can. 

We will furnish you with a cottonwood log or will bring some from The Ranch Of The Different Drummer, and we will bring the rawhide for heads and lacing, leather for your beater, some beads, feathers, paint, and other creative accessories as well.
